Turkmen Agricultural Producer Aims to Export Japanese Pears
The pear trees are planted in wide rows and are watered using drip irrigation system.
Entrepreneur Ahmet Jumabayev this year plans to grow Japanese pears in 51 hectares of land in Baherden etrap of Turkmenistan’s Ahal velayat and export them to foreign markets.
The businessman imported the Japanese pear trees from Turkey and planted them in a well-drained and fertilized soil. The agricultural producer constantly monitors the trees’ growth. The fruit trees are planted in wide rows and are watered using drip irrigation system, Rysgal newspaper reported on Monday.
In order to collect rich harvest, fruit trees are cut at the appropriate time of the year and are kept at a certain height, Jumabayev said, adding that with proper care, the pear trees bear fruit in 5-6 years and can yield 10-20 kg of Japanese pears.
Last year, the entrepreneur sold tens of tons of Japanese pears under the Güneşli Miwe trademark to local consumers.
