The wood processing industry of Turkmenistan grew by 23.7% in 2020 due to new processing enterprises, including private companies, Orient news outlet reported on Tuesday.
Due to natural climatic and geographical features, the forest fund of Turkmenistan occupies only 8.6% of the total area of the country. Due to this conditions, for the development of the woodworking industry, not only wood is used, but also agricultural remains.
One of the most successful private woodworking enterprises in the country was opened in 2018 in the Oguzhan etrap of Mary velayat. It produces particle board using cotton stalks that remain after the raw harvest and other agricultural remains.
The creation of such industries will contribute to the development of the domestic industry for the manufacture of furniture and building materials using environmentally friendly, natural materials, Orient noted. This, in turn, will reduce imports of relevant products and lower their market prices for ordinary consumers throughout the country.
