Summing up the results of the outgoing year, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, although it was difficult, it turned out to be good enough for Turkmenistan.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held the last New Year's Eve joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council at the Ruhiyet Palace on Wednesday, TDH news agency reports.
The Turkmen Leader noted that 2020 shall be forever remembered in the history of the country as the year of the 25th Anniversary of the state's permanent neutrality. This year has turned out to be very difficult for us, Turkmen President added.
At the same time, the Head of State continued, despite the global coronavirus pandemic, Turkmenistan maintained intensity of its foreign policy and economic activity.
Summing up the year, the Head of State recalled that in 2021 the country will widely celebrate the 30th Anniversary of its independence, adding that it is planned to mark this significant date for the Turkmen people with concrete deeds and implementation of new projects.
The Head of State emphasized that over 2.5 thousand industrial and social facilities with a total contractual value of about $37 billion are currently under construction in Turkmenistan. In addition, the country commissioned 45 large facilities with a total value of about 7 billion manats this year.
This year, residential buildings with a total area of about 2 million square meters, including luxury apartments, kindergartens, schools, medical institutions, as well as other social facilities, were also commissioned in the country.
In general, 2020 was a difficult year for everyone characterized by many negative events, both in politics and in the economy, Turkmen President noted. Nevertheless, good GDP growth of 5.9% is expected in the country.
Summing up the results of the outgoing year, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, although it was difficult, it turned out to be good enough for Turkmenistan.
