The export of footwear from Uzbekistan increased by more than 90% in 2020, UzNews.uz news outlet reported on Monday.
The number of exported footwear reached 28.8 million pairs during the period, while its imports to the country decreased by 74%.
The number of shoes exported in 2020, compared to the same period last year, increased by 91%. Supplies to Tajikistan increased 4.5 times, to Afghanistan - 4.4 times, to Kazakhstan - 2.1 times, to Turkmenistan - 1.8 times, and exports to Kyrgyzstan increased 1.1 times.
Uzbekistan also expanded the geography of the main markets for the sale of footwear under the "Made in Uzbekistan" brand. The country currently exports footwear to 12 countries, including the USA, the UAE, Kuwait, Latvia and Moldova.
