Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan (TULM) Open Joint-Stock Company is actively engaged in increasing road and rail freight traffic in Turkmenistan.

The TULM told Business Turkmenistan that the company is currently working on transit documents of the first truck cargo that it transported from the Afghan city of Akina via the Lapis Lazuli corridor to the Turkmenbashi International Seaport. The cargo consists of eight 40-foot freight containers.

“In the near future, cargo containers will be sent to the Baku International Sea Trade Port in Azerbaijan by a liner ship across the Caspian Sea. From Baku the cargo will be sent to Turkey by rail,” the TULM said.

Lapis Lazuli Route Corridor is a transport project connecting Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. The agreement on the creation of the corridor was signed in November 2017 in the framework of the 7th Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VII).

In September this year, the TULM facilitated the delivery of a cargo consisting of 48 units of 40-foot containers from China to Turkmenistan via the North-South railway corridor through Kazakhstan.
