Turkmenistan’s President and IWF President Discuss Cooperation in Weightlifting Sport

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Mohammed Jalood, president of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) on May 20 to discuss collaboration in the sport, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.

Jalood expressed gratitude for the meeting and praised Turkmenistan’s efforts to develop sports. He recalled his previous visits to Ashgabat, including the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships, complimenting the city’s appearance.

The meeting highlighted Turkmenistan’s policy to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle domestically, alongside efforts to expand international cooperation in the sector. Existing ties between Turkmenistan, the International Olympic Committee, and other sports federations were also noted.

The sides expressed confidence that the visit would strengthen their partnership and potentially lead to new joint projects and initiatives in sports.

At the end of the meeting, Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked Jalood for his personal contributions to the relationship between Turkmenistan and the IWF.
