Iran and Turkmenistan aim to boost bilateral trade by 30%, following the first-ever exhibition of Turkmenistan’s export capabilities in Iran, an event driven by private sector investment, as reported by Tehran Times news agency on Tuesday.
Ramazan Bahrami, head of the Iran-Turkmenistan Joint Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the significant role of both countries’ private sectors in expert panels and face-to-face negotiations, paving the way for new partnerships. Preliminary agreements were reached in key sectors such as petrochemicals, petroleum products, construction materials, food industries, textiles, and logistics, which are expected to enhance trade once finalized.
According to Bahrami, trade between Iran and Turkmenistan reached nearly $600 million last year. With the momentum generated by the exhibition and ongoing commercial interactions, the two countries are targeting a 30% increase in trade.
The head of the Iran-Turkmenistan Joint Chamber of Commerce noted that some of this growth will materialize in the coming months, with the remainder reflected in next year’s export statistics.
The first exclusive exhibition showcasing Turkmenistan’s export capabilities officially opened from May 5 to 7, 2025, in the Iranian city of Gorgan, with the participation of over 50 Turkmen companies.
