Turkmenistan’s President Congratulates UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Birthday
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended birthday greetings to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, State news agency reported on Wednesday.
In his congratulatory message, the head of state wished Guterres good health, happiness, boundless energy, strength of spirit, and continued success in his vital international mission.
Guterres has served as Secretary-General of the United Nations since January 2017. Prior to that, he held the position of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for 10 years.
Guterres began his political career in Portugal, where he served as prime minister from 1995 to 2002. During his tenure, he played an active role in strengthening Portugal’s position within the European Union and expanding its foreign relations.
