A new branch of the Kazakhstan-based company KMG Drilling and Services has officially opened in Ashgabat, where it will be conducting drilling operations at the Cheleken oil field.
The company will utilize Kazakhstan's first self-elevating offshore drilling rig (SEDR) named *Satti*, equipped with modern technologies, as reported on Tuesday by the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
The branch’s opening marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
Founded in 2008, KMG Drilling & Services is a subsidiary of KazMunayGas and a leading provider of drilling services in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea.
On October 10, 2024, during an official visit by Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Turkmenistan, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between KazMunayGas and Turkmenistan’s Türkmennebit (Turkmen Oil) State Concern, aimed at expanding partnerships in the oil and gas sector and creating new opportunities for both nations.
