Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a meeting on Tuesday in Tokyo with Yoko Kamikawa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The discussions focused on the importance of organizing a meeting between the heads of the two states within the current year.
The meeting covered plans for the inaugural Summit of the "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue. Future mutual visits by parliamentarians throughout the year were also outlined, Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry reports.
The diplomats expressed satisfaction with the development of strategic, stable, and long-term trade and economic ties between the two nations.
As reported, the talks highlighted promising areas for cooperation, including digitalization and information technology, as well as addressing environmental and climate change concerns.
As a result of the discussions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan signed the Cooperation Program for 2024-2026.
