The export of lumber (plank, beam, veneer, funkwood) from Russia to Turkmenistan in 2022 increased by 28 percent compared to 2021 and amounted to 101 thousand cubic meters, Interfax news agency reported on Thursday with reference to the Roslesinforg organization.
Roslesinforg is an all-Russian organization that specializes in the comprehensive solution of forest accounting and forest management tasks in the interests of the state.
Overall, the export of Russian timber in 2022 decreased by 20.8 percent and amounted to 23.328 million cubic meters, Roslesinforg told Interfax.
More than half of the supplies, or 13.087 million cubic meters, were sent to China. This is 7 percent lower than in 2021.
The second largest purchaser of lumber from Russia in 2022 was Uzbekistan, which imported from Russia 1.9 million cubic meters of lumber, the same level as in 2021. Kazakhstan last year imported 762 thousand cubic meters, which is 6.5 percent lower than the previous year. Azerbaijan reduced its purchases of Russian lumber by almost a quarter, to 602 thousand cubic meters.
North Africa and the Middle East for the year increased the supply of lumber by almost 18 percent – up to 1.2 million cubic meters.
Tajikistan increased its supplies by 24 percent to 440 thousand cubic meters, Turkey by 37 percent to 141 thousand cubic meters. Singapore increased its purchases 1.73 times, to more than 500 thousand cubic meters.
In total, Russia supplied lumber to 89 countries in 2022.
