Accordingly, the area of 2,370 hectares of the Gokdepe district of Ahal province is transferred to the administrative territory of the new city.
The new administrative center of Turkmenistan’s Ahal province will be named as Arkadag, the relevant decree of the Mejlis chamber of the country’s bicameral parliament was announced by its Chair Gulshat Mammedova during the extended cabinet meeting hosted by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the new center on Wednesday.
The Mejlis Chair said the document was prepared taking into account the wishes of residents of Ahal and all other regions of the country, as well as proposals of public organizations, the official Turkmen media reports.
According to the Mejlis decree, the administrative center of Ahal province is transferred to the city of Arkadag. Accordingly, the area of 2,370 hectares of the Gokdepe district of Ahal province is transferred to the administrative territory of the new city. The village of Aba Annayev of Karizek gengeshlik of Gokdepe district is excluded from the list of administrative and territorial units due to its accession to the territory of Arkadag and Karizek gengeshlik is abolished.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan together with the Governor of Ahal province was ordered to make a description of the administrative boundaries of the city of Arkadag in the prescribed manner.
During her brief, the Mejlis Chair also informed of the decision to name medical, social, cultural and educational facilities in the city of Arkadag.
