Turkmenistan’s major oil processing plant Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries (TCOR) mastered the industrial production of high-octane automobile gasoline of AI-98 brand, which is made from low-octane one by adding additives and modifiers.
Gasoline of this brand is a premium high-octane fuel for engines capable of showing maximum power by increasing pressure in the chamber. AI-98 is primarily used in vehicles with engines having an increased compression ratio from 12 to 14, the official Turkmen media reported on Thursday.
Due to high anti-detonation properties (octane characteristics) the gasoline increases engine power and improves the acceleration dynamics, reduces the vibration and noise level and considerably decreases the fuel consumption. The first batch of high-octane gasoline has already been tested on the domestic market.
The products of the Turkmenbashi refinery are sold on the domestic market and exported to neighboring and far-abroad countries, mainly to Asia and Europe. AI-98 gasoline is also intended for export.
Established in 1943, the TCOR located in the country’s coastal velayat of Balkan is one of the leading oil refineries in the region. The refinery produces over 20 types of products, including A-92, A-95 and A-80 gasolines, aviation and diesel fuel, fuel oil, lubricating oils, polypropylene, gasoil, petroleum coke, liquefied gas, construction and road bitumen, and sulfur.
